The one and only time I was stupid enough to fence hop, had to be the most risky. Not that anything did happen, but easily could have.

That is a very scary thought. Milking a cow, in the traditional manner, is dangerous if you are unfamiliar with the way to do it. I don't imagine there are any manuals to instruct one on the proper way to do what you did. You are WAY braver than I am.
