In the SCC 2016 (R v DLW) it ruled that only penetrative sex was considered bestiality. By 2018 C-84 had been introduced, to modify Section 160 to include language that basically means that any contact for a sexual purpose between a person and an animal is now considered bestiality. You obviously can't compel anyone to participate, either. Viewing has never been considered illegal, though I admit it remains an unchallenged grey area in the current laws. There is nothing in Canada's criminal code that notes that as an offense.
