Vets and Suspision

The castration question has also come up a few times:
The top thread no longer exists

The vet recommended that I castrate my dog, I refused. After many questions and further recommendations, I told him that I didn't want to castrate because I had sex with the dog... there was silence, and he never recommended anything to me again...And we still talk

I always take my dog to his yearly vet visit and only rarely have I ever had to take him in to see a vet for the five years I've had him that wasn't his yearly check up thankfully. For the most part I haven't really had any sort of issues when it came to not having him neutered, it has been recommended to me on several occasions but thankfully a simple "that goes against my believes" has worked out fairly well. Taking him to a smaller town vet and being fairly good friends with the people there has probably helped in that regard so I haven't ever had much issue.

As far as suspension is concerned I don't believe any of them has any sort of idea what I do at least no one has ever called me out on it or alluded to the thought so either they haven't the slightest clue or they don't care enough to bother.

I deeply regret having my dog spayed. Many problems arise when a female dog is spayed. Two years after being spayed, she began to have fluid retention problems. And now that she's older, that problem is even more pronounced. My male dogs also lost a lot of grace and vitality after being spayed. It's true that they're more guard dogs since they wander off less, especially because I live in the countryside and my land had no boundaries. I'll never spay my next dogs again once I have a fenced-in land.🥲

I agree… I highly doubt any vets first thought is “hmm this girl fucks her dog”

It’s probably something that doesn’t even cross their mind.

I feel like thats
I love this site....so grateful for it.
I've a question: I'm adopting a puppy girl soon, she's 5 weeks old. I'm concerned about explaining to a vet why I will not want to spay. Any ideas. I know it's a red flag for them. I don't believe in it, ethically.

But what about when she's older? Vets know when something has happened. Can anyone advise me?

Thanks!
Charlie
Common practice but idk
