Why do y'all think many women are uncomfortable online?

So, I have my own personal beliefs that I've gained from talking with the many women I've been friends with over the years, but I believe it's because the Internet—for so so many reasons—is just generally hostile to women.

Now I don't want this to be some kind of post where people come to rant about how there's actually more women online than men or other bullshit arguments. I also really don't think arguing under this post will result in anything if you disagree.

I'm just wanting to know why you personally think comparitively few women are openly active online?

You can be a man or a woman to reply, it doesn't matter.

Speaking as a man, the problem is men - I get that there are positives to being a welcoming, supportive community in reaching out to people and connecting over common interests and experiences, but sometimes it feels like guys have a tendency to hit on anything that moves (particularly in a sex-positive environment like ZV)

I can definitely imagine that a woman could feel overwhelmed and intimidated when hit with hundreds of messages as soon as they post a hello.

I would argue that there *are* indeed more women in the community that can be seen through the activity that you see, but most prioritise their safety, privacy and sanity over actively posting in an environment that does attract a lot of that behavior.

(none of this applies to everyone, regardless of gender - just a broad-strokes take on the question)

Or if they aren't hitting on us, they are super pushy about wanting us to role play or type out every experience and fantasy we have ever had in our lives

Horny net trolls are a scourge on every level.

Best treatment is to apply a lead pipe to them while they're tied in a damp burlap sack, it keeps their moral down, just the way they like it.
