I'm mostly not into politics, but generally I go inde. I do wish more people would vote based on policy instead of party or whatever.

i’m a Canadian so I can attest to how amazing universal healthcare is… I never have to think about affording healthcare in this country. that being said if I lived in the US and could vote I would identify as a democratic socialist i.e. Bernie Sanders. capitalism worked great for grandparents and so-so for my parents but it has completely fucked most people under 40 as the “slice of pie“ got thinner and thinner since the 60s… Tax the rich, close all the loop holes they take advantage of with their fleet of $$$ lawyers, get money out of politics (money corrupts) and have some goddamn fucking common sense so future generations can have a modicum of success & happiness with a healthy planet that won’t kill us.

The electoral system in the U.S. is called a two-party system. That means that two parties dominate the political field in all three levels of government. Lol, that doesn't seem very democratic.
It's not democratic at all. If we had more parties, it would be harder for the rich to buy elections. I think ranked choice voting is a great idea too.

I’d say politically I’m way farther right leaning but I’d have to put Ron Paul conservative/libertarian, the less govt the better I find in my opinion
Culture v economics is different , culturally im as about as right as you can be , economic /socially Im for mixed economy coming from Japan where we have some of the best healthcare in the world as well as public transit and the worlds lowest homeless population

Coming from Japan I’m basically an ethnic nationalist culturally so I’m pretty par gif the course for most OTB Asians who move here tbh

Most ppl assume I’m like a standard republican tho here in Texas , not a fan of most of the GOP maybe some of the freedom caucus ppl /libertarians more so as I left nyc for political reasons

I see lots of good points and bad points made by both sides.

The problem I see is that neither side wants to work together to actually solve a fucking thing. No matter, left or right, Obama or Trump, or Biden or Bush, we still basically get fucked in the end, with the politicians and corporate greedy fucks basically jacking off to our hard earnings and doing whatever the fuck they want to, because they can, because in the end, they pull the strings.

I'm now leaning libertarian. I'm sure even that won't be all sunshine and rainbows either, but at this point, their shit at least sounds a lot better on paper than the endless stream of bullshit we've been suffering through for years.

I say fuckit.. Let's at least give them a shot. I don't see how they could fuck things up any worse than they already are. Maybe, just maybe, some shit could get reformed to stop imprisoning people for shit they do in their own homes, will full consent of everyone *cough* involved, with no harm coming of it..

This shit of people feeling the need to push their agendas where they don't belong needs to change. Sure, have laws that actually protect people and animals from harm, but for fucks sake, redefine "harm" and stop persecuting folks for what they think and go by the actions, with the first question to be asked "who or what got hurt?"...

Too sensible. It can never work.

That's just it.. we continually walk right past anything sensible. And maybe it wouldn't work. But how would we know unless we tried?

I think we could all agree there is room to make things better. We've tried banning shit. It didn't work. So we learned that doesn't work (or did we? Lol), let's at least fucking try something different. At least we will learn something from it.

The point I was trying to make is that "sensible" is seeming more and more to be synonymous with "to be avoided at all costs". Your proposal makes too much sense to even give it a try in today's political climate.

Idiotic shit is the order of the day. One can hope that the pendulum will swing back to something reasonable - and do it soon - but I'm not putting any money on it happening without a national-level "bullets flying/people dying" event.

Oh I totally picked up your intent! I just had to elaborate I guess. You are absolutely right. Idiotic shit is indeed the order of the day, and like you, I fear what it will take for the pendulum to swing back.

It's a shame really, that we as a society seem hell bent on breaking shit just to have to clean up the mess afterwards rather than making the efforts to fix shit before the mess gets any bigger, or getting to the point where we're scraping up bodies.

No party affiliation at this point, I choose the nation and its peoples over any party or agenda. Too much back biting and back stabbing going on right now for my taste.

Ohh boy, isn't this a can of worms? Aren't we supposed to not bring this up at Thanksgiving Dinner?
Socially liberal, fiscally conservative. I was brought up to not spend more than you have. If you want something, save for it. If you can't save, do without.
I agree with Justadsmguy, balance the budget! Everyone pays taxes, fire districts, parks, roads aren't free!
One more, I pay a gasoline tax, tax electric cars to for their road use. Nothing is free in a democracy. Pay your fair share!
