How do 'owners' of animals make sure, that a another zoo does not want to use them to get to their animals? Unfortunately there are people like that out there, not showing interest in the person as well. Does this bother you and if so, what do you do against it?

Don’t invite strangers.
It’s that simple.

Make sure a potential visitor is vetted by friends.

If one is starting to be more active in the scene and was more of a bystander or lurker, that would also mean that he would be a stranger. So I assume it would just be the old "Only time will tell", no? Writing a bunch to get a feeling for each other.

Get to know them for a long time first.

It is bothersome indeed but it usually becomes apparent pretty quickly

Don't even talk about your animal. If they can't be bothered to talk to you as a person without it veering towards your animal then it's clear that they view you as nothinf but a stepping stone a facilitator.
