My plans went out the window

Welp...I'm at a new crossroads.

My girl's mama got pregnant again and now I have one of her puppies... making her my girl's half sister. She's probably about 6-8 weeks old, if I had to make a guess. She has teeth and can eat solid food.

Now here comes my dilemma. I had bought a house early last month, and later in the month, rescued a neglected 8-year old retired breeder Golden Retriever.

My plan was to wait a year or 2 before adding my 3rd and final dog, and I was hoping for that dog to be a German Shepherd between the ages of 6 months and 2 years.

When I brought home this puppy yesterday, my plan was to do what I was originally going to do with my now 15 month old girl who this whole thread is about, and find her a new home, but I'm afraid that the same thing is going to end up happening.

Should I find this puppy a new home after getting her wormed and vaccinated, or should I keep her?

get her a new home with someone you trust, maybe who you caan visit

I guess that's the thing, I'm really on the fence about this. Looking to hear arguments for or against it.
honestly, i get that you had a plan and wnated to follow it, but as a famous painter once said: there's no mistakes, only happy little accidents (i think this was the quote? idk tho)

in >MY< opinion, you should stick with her and stay with her instead of finding a new owner, but thats just my opinion, at the end of the day, is your choice, but i just hope that no matter your choice, both you and this girl can be happy at the end <3

edit: unless its starts to get to overwhelming for you, then i think you should find an owner :/

It's been a while since I've posted here, but for anyone who still remembers or is still at all interested, I ended up finding the foster puppy a forever home towards the end of April/beginning of May.

As of this week, my girl who I started this thread over is on her 3rd heat, and her senior rescue golden sister is also in heat at the same time.

While that normally would sound fantastic, towards the end of May / beginning of June, I found a human girlfriend, which I never thought I'd ever do. I read a post somewhere online before memorial day where a certain person was kind of lamenting how if he died, the only way he'd even be found is if the smell got too bad and the neighbors started to complain, and that whole idea really started to fuck with my head.

So, yeah, my plans went out the window AGAIN.

Oookkk.
Good news on thre pup.

The girlfriend part, to cite "The Eagles"
This could be heaven, this could be hell.

Thing is. Does she knowcabout your zoo part? If not... What are your options and intentions?
No, not need to answer here, but you totally need to think about it.

Life is fun...

She does not know about my zoo side, and I don't ever think I can reveal it to her. As for the other question, I really don't know if I'll ever be able to find an answer.

Yes, I imagine so as finding a girlfriend who is *also* zoo would be like winningvthe lotery.

That is your biggest decision here. Either keep her or keep the zoo thing. It is your choice but personslly I would not keep both as it would feel like cheating.

Act wisely, grasshopper, and the best for you?

At this point in my life I have more or less accepted this as my fate. And I am fine with it too as I am not interested in finding a girlfriend. I have no need to, I'm getting too old for sex so having a girlfriend is a waste of my precious time now. (I hope this thread didn't take a dark turn.)

Welp I never thought this would happen but I ended up getting married to the girl I mentioned in my post a few months ago. Baby #1 is on the way.
Haven't had sex with either of my dogs since July. Kinda feel bad about that.
Speaking of my dogs, Christmas week I had to take my Golden Retriever to the vet and they had her spleen removed. Just found out today that her biopsy results came back and she has hemangiosarcoma and only has 2 months left to live. Gotten me into a really big depression now.

I still don't know how the hell I went from being zoo exclusive to marrying a human but I guess my ape brain hit the override. I still am attracted both romantically and sexually to female dogs but I guess I just won't be able to act on it anymore.

Sorry to hear about your Golden, Sultry. I lost my Bloodhound long ago to cancer in her mouth, during which I had a few months to prepare for the inevitable. More recently my old Saint Bernard passed very suddenly, also to cancer, this one an aggressive growth in her abdomen that I never knew about until we woke up one morning and she wasn't able to stand up due to pain. Having experienced things both ways, I am glad you have some time to adjust and say goodbye.

I'm glad you found a woman to marry, and I think you're doing the right thing by stopping with your dogs so as not to cheat on your human partner. I do regret that you have to hide part of yourself to make it work, so I hope one day you feel comfortable enough talking about zoo with her, and even mentioning it as something you used to do.

Damn. Those are quite some changes indeed.
Not really bad, actually. But make sure you stick to the present life and *enjoy* it for the sake of all.

And, congrats on the "new ape" 😁 While I am not a fan of those, I know that, when it is your own, it is best thing ever. Even if it is a life chore too. Best wished on that.

And obvious sadness about your golden news. That is never rasy to cope. How old is she?

She's going to be 9 in March but I've only had her since last February

That is an age, but no. Not really old, really. What really sucks you did not have more time before this.

But... big kudos on you for giving her a good place. Sometimes at those ages it is hard to find them a good home 🙂 You will surely care for her.

Happy update...my golden is still alive and doing better than ever. Better still, she's finally heartworm free! On a side note, I'm honestly wondering if it would be best to get my younger dog spayed. When the two go in heat, they take turns jumping and jumping each other since they no longer can have their sexual needs fulfilled. As much as I am against spaying them, would it be more ethical of me to just do that? I feel like they're almost being tortured when they're in heat.

Good! Nothing like having them healthy. For them as well as for your worries.

About spaying. You know your circumstances. Need to do what you think is best for you or for them.
Still, first heats are usually more active or... uncontrolled. Do they look like suffering from it? or just more active and a bit relentless?
You can give a chance if you want, or try chemical castration to see how they go without.

In any case, any decision YOU take is good as long as you have thought it over and decided it is the right one.

You might suggest masturbating the dogs to your wife, just as a measure to relieve them when they're in heat. That's not so crazy an idea that most normals would burn you at the stake for it, and you can see from her reaction if she would be accepting of zoo in general.

I’m sorry what? 😂

I can't even imagine how I would start that conversation.

Hiding your zoo from most people I get, but from your spouse? For the rest of your life? That sucks. That's a big deal. So I figure he should at least try to find out how his wife feels about it. This is a relatively safe way to do that.

I can't even fathom that you are serious here. This is terrible advice. Many people have to hide their zoo side even from their partners or else massively risk loosing it all. The time to bring it up is before you get married and have a child. Otherwise unless you walk in on your partner mid sex with an animal you are risking everything.

"Honey, i'm going to finger our dog to help her get off during heat". :ROFLMAO:

Well, damn. Cliffhanger. 😅 An IRL story of adopting an abandoned puppy and raising her with love and devotion. It's quite the emotional roller-coaster. Quite possibly the best/my favorite thread I've found on here. Can't wait to here the next update.

That is great news. Congrats to you and your golden, plus the rest of the family since I'm sure they're happy about it too.

Ethical to spay them because they're horny?...no. I'd say that, that is an unethical reason to spay.
I'm sure there are at least a few threads on here (and a lot of other places) that talk about the pros and cons of neutering/spaying, should/shouldn't you do it, etc.
It's a big decision with a lot of variables, especially with females and their possible predisposition for health problems.(Pyo, mammary cancer, etc.) Not to mention the different types of spays available. (OVE, OVH, OSS,)

  • Dogs living with responsible guardians should remain intact as they are able to prevent unwanted breeding by keeping female dogs in heat under direct supervision and prevent the free roaming of male dogs.

  • In rescue shelters or living in situations where unplanned pregnancies can't be avoided, dogs should undergo hormone-sparing sterilization: vasectomies and ovary-sparing hysterectomies.
This protocol ensures that dogs grow up benefiting from sex hormones and avoiding the health problems linked to conventional neutering and spaying.

I agree. It's a decision that should be made long before you consider marriage and starting a family.

Better yet, suggest she does it.

I also agree with this but find it might be a little suspicious to her that his dogs have been sexual mature for a long time...and yet, it's only now he's worried about them being sexual frustrated/in need of release? If she brought that up, the only option is to admit you've been pleasing them yourself up until now, or sound like a jackass saying you've never noticed or thought of it before.
