That's comparable with Pokemon and individual drawing styles.

As example: Fennekin -> Braixen -> Delphox. Fennekin is a very young fox cub basically. While the evolution ones are young and older adult (and quite sexy, tho). ?‍ Still artists are able to draw them "too young" or even "quite old looking" adult ones.

Ah, yep - the foals look "drawn younger", eyes, shorter hairs, but directly visible on the body-to-head size proportions.
That's basically 1:1 versus 1:2,5 or comparable.
