They're doing a good job and surely have a lot to do in the background.
I wouldn't find the time to "specifically check for malicious intents" in the forum, aside trolls and spammers as example. Because reviewing all those video and picture uploads.. would take ages and there's not even an interest in the utmost of it, as such quite annoying to check out distracting stuff just for the sake of it being "rule conform". ?
Not to talk about how it can distract one from doing three things parallel, if there's endless discussions or walls of text to check.
Fortunately the trolls and spammers rarely make any effort and just plain and easy write their bullshit, as such it's easy to find. But still takes online time.
In those regards it's a wise decision to declare one category "Dumpster Fire" and don't care much about insults, offtopic and so on in this one. Imagine how endless the check-and-moderate activities for our few mods would be if they had to clean up every post which is there to remove personal attacks and so on.
It's easier to win alone arguing against ChatGPT, surely.
