The only time three two barrel carburetors makes sense is on a six cylinder engine, dual fours are always better for power as there's one barrel per cylinder.

Besides lawn equipment, I really never deal or have dealt with carburetors. In fact, I think the only vehicle I've been in direct contact with that wasn't DI or FI was my father's really old Ford pickup. Even then he didn't keep it for very long.
