Legality of Bestiality by U.S. State | 2024

Hello all. New user here, I'm really nervous to even be posting here because of my question- I know that zoo stuff is illegal, as in recording and participating in a physical act. But is drawn/cartoon content and roleplay also illegal? For reference I'm in Florida where it's basically a felony to possess zoo videos.

I'm glad this community exists but man I'm anxious about it all and unsure of what content I can see, what limits I should impose on myself, etc. Would it just be safer to not engage in this content at all, even if its drawn, or forum posts?

Thanks for reading this, I appreciate your time!

Art, even HIGHLY illegal stuff that I won't get into, is generally protected as being merely art.

No law enforcement agency has the time, resources, or desire to attempt to monitor what someone views on a computer and then press charges because you watched something illegal. The only time it will ever come up is if you're in their focus for something more important, then they'll tack it on as an additional charge when they find it while looking through your seized computer for the other stuff they actually went after you for. That's why every bestiality bust news story you see also says they found CP, the cops went after them for the CP then discovered the beast as a "bonus".

So keep your nose clean and don't give the cops a reason to be investigating you and it doesn't matter how illegal it is to be watching.

Not a lawyer but I don't believe talking about it or making or having fictional artwork is illegal anywhere.

Some states lump zoo into animal abuse category which is very serious.

Be safe, use a VPN, encrypt any media.

If you post your own media make sure nothing can help identify you in the background.

Thank you for these posts, they're reassuring. I'm definitely keeping my nose clean and don't intend on doing any real life stuff but man, I was about to have a little breakdown reading about the obscenity laws. Like, I'd been watching stuff previously and I was terrified someone was logging my activity in those sites to prosecute later. I hope this isn't coming across as pathetic as it sounds, I'm not in a very good place right now so thank you for the help! I'm glad that at least it seems I won't get in trouble for what I'm doing now.

I was terrified someone was logging my activity in those sites to prosecute later.
That would be illegal. Internet traffic, like phone calls, can only be logged and monitored with a court order, and a court order can only be issued with probable evidence of a specific crime being committed. So again, don't give them a reason to investigate you and no one will know.

As a content creator most places cannot charge with bestiality because you are not performing a sex act with an animal. What they will get you on is a whole list of obscenity charges and possibly cruelty to an animal. Though my dog thinks it is cruel for him not to have sex with a woman.

Hello everyone, I used to have an account on here previously but forgot it. I came back because I am more interested in meeting people and learning more things centered around zoophilia. I have always been leaning very hard into borderline zoo territory with my interests and finally have accepted myself more to it.

Anyways, doing my research on the topic, I was interested in figuring out the legality of bestiality in the United States. I checked out archived wikipedia posts, wikipedia images, and a whole bunch of forums. I did not get concise and accurate information and it is very likely there is no place online with current up-to-date information on this topic. I decided I would create an updated version of a map to share with everyone. Rather than sharing it publicly elsewhere online, I thought it would be a good idea to share it in a place more centered around the topic. Which would be this forum. I know many people would like to be in-the-know on the updated information for whatever purpose it may serve to them. I went ahead and did research on every single states laws centered around "Bestiality" or "Crimes Against Nature" and came up with this information regarding each states current stance on the topic.

There are 3 maps made.
1st Map: Complete comprehensive overview.
2nd Map: General overview.
3rd Map: Repeat offense after first.

I hope this information is intriguing and helpful to people. Let me know your thoughts or comments on it!

To get a complete view, we may need to look at case law for how animal abuse laws are interpreted. I suspect that very vague laws can be bent to fit criminalizing animal sex. This is especially concerning for West Virginia but also it could be used in states with misdemeanor offenses to make it more severe. Maybe animal abuse can be a felony.

I would also be interested in if the Wikipedia article on the legality of downloading or possessing zoo porn is up to date.

Thank you for your work!
There were quite a few states in which the laws were very, very difficult to interpret, Having to go back and forth between subsections to make sense of which aligns to the correct penalty. A few states also only based it off of prison time and fines instead of being specifically a class of offense making it a little challenging to align the maximum and minimum fines and sentence time to a class of offense. Some were also very vague on the specific term for bestiality among other writings as well.
Most of the states got straight to the point though in classification as Class X misdemeanor or felony.

Seeing case law on different judicial interpretations would be very cool indeed. Would love to do some digging into a few if I could find any.
As for the different interpretations of misdemeanor over to a felony under different jurisdictions, I made sure to be super conservative on aligning the most severe outcome that could occur in states that were generally too broad on how they persecute within their written laws.

I saw some states mentioning more of a list on other bestiality related topics that weren't necessarily bestiality on their own such as the possession of media, transfer of media, creation of media. Most states have also made a general exception to professional medical practices, different certified individuals, and animal husbandry among other things. I could do some digging again into the specifics and display a few more maps on different topics

Thanks for the comment! :)

It's great that you've taken the initiative to research the legality of bestiality across various states.

Is there any person in the US or any where else who has ever been found and officially convicted of sexual acts involving an animal? I know that here where I am its difficult for a prosecutor to prove that there is animal cruelty with ZOO as the question arises that how anyone can prove that there wasnt consent from the animal and did the animal initiate the sexual interaction/s or did the person initiate the sexual interactions. Its a stale mate for legislation cause should the animal be charged for initiating the act and is it actually cruelty to humans in that case? Any thoughts peoples. Would be good to hear any thoughts from a dog or a horse on this matter. Oh thats right us humans are stupid and we cant understand what the animals are saying so lets just crucify and prosecute the person as they are an easier target. Or is it just a so called academic creating legislations in highly paid occupations to justify their position. I believe the majority of people in highly paid positions are corrupt as how can anyone justify the quantity of moneys that they earn sitting on their asses all day. Politicians are the biggest and most corrupt criminals. How come they hardly ever end up in prison. Lawmakers and politicians create laws to indemnify them from prosecution. So we are all judged in society by criminals who hide behind the laws that they create to protect themselves. There are loop holes in all laws for them to avoid prosecution and it is for us to try and find these loop holes to avoid imprisonment. Its all hide and go seek and if you dont have the money you are stuffed.

Good day! I am looking for countries where zoophilia is allowed or most common, if you know any, could you please share? And what do you think about these countries? Thanks in advance for reply!

Very informative, thank you for sharing.

Is there a state in the US that claims it is illegal to watch zoo porn ? How would they even track that? How would they prove YOU were the one watching it? That's alot of variables

yea but that was bill resolution 4447 the " keep kids safe from porn " . In most cases they just have a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that says
I am 18 or older
I am not 18 yet

Porn hub probably decided to take it a step further because they already purged alot of content and profiles that couldn't confirm age. They got fined and in legal trouble from some stuff already a couple years ago.

Even e621 has an age block. And that's animated.

As open minded as I claim to be , I don't disagree with the bill measure. Too many kids online in adult areas is bad for everyone. The vast majority of younger people here even claim they got into zoo after watching videos at various ages.

I'm a tiny bit older, growing up everything was slower. The pc and internet was not something everyone had and it certainly wasn't fast or convenient like it is now. Back in our day we had this thing called imagination. Maybe a rock that looked like boobs or a hot mom in the neighborhood. You were a badass if you had a dirty magazine.

Now you have smart phones , wifi, porn and drugs everywhere. If I gotta be slightly inconvenienced by keeping someone's kid from becoming a perv , fine.

Btw I made up the bill number , but I do remember when they passed that because there was another bill that lowered property taxes .

Their is a case coming up in January starting 15th of Denise Frazier in Mississippi the young lady has been locked up already for well over a year too. It's sad.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - A Jones County woman has been sentenced after being charged with unnatural intercourse in Forrest County.

Denise Frazier, 21, was charged with one count of unnatural intercourse and one count of attempted unnatural intercourse in Forrest County in early 2024. She pleaded guilty to the first charge.

Frazier was sentenced to four years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections, five years of probation and must register as a sex offender.

Once Frazier is released on probation, she will not be allowed to possess or contact any animals or contact or communicate with her minor child, unless authorized by a youth court judge.

Frazier faced similar charges in Jones County prior to her arrest in Forrest County.

Jones Co. female behind bars for performing sexual act with dog on social media

A then-19-year-old Frazier had been arrested in 2023 by Jones County deputies and charged with unnatural intercourse/aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly performing sexual acts with a dog.

Frazier was ordered to stay away from animals as a part of her bond, but she violated those conditions in Forrest County, leading to her arrest.

Frazier will not be eligible for early discharge from probation.

they could label it as obscenity or something i thought?

Not in general unless it falls into some kind of charge related to exposing a minor to such materials, as there are laws already on the books around exposing children to obscene pornography.
