If it's situational depression you're dealing with, I get it. That's something I've dealt with in the past and will likely have to deal with again. My brain likes to sometimes death spiral, and when it does, I'm often not in control.

It's something I've dealt with off and on for awhile now. But when it hits, it really hits. There's been times when I've broken down and cried over thoughts I couldn't control. But in the end, it helps, even if just a bit. I'm lucky now that I have my newfie gal who often knows when something isn't right and is patient with me. And in the times when she's been down, I've been equally patient and loving towards her.

I tend to hug the closest furry companion and let it out, equine or canine they are both very good at being emotionally supportive.

Yeah my pony knew something was very wrong the day my doggy passed away, literally wouldn't let me pass her in the physically blocked me with herself until I broke down crying into her mane, hell even she was upset by the lost of her non equine friend.

Most of us struggle in one way or another. Even if society like to portray men is tough rugged and sometimes unfeeling creatures. Some people cry and listen to sad music to cope, some people turn to the bottle, some people turn to anger. But eventually, being emotional creatures, it comes out one way or another.

I've been tempted to turn to heavy drinking more than once, but it's just not worth it to me and from personal experience tending large animals is best done stone cold sober, preferably without a hangover as well.
