ZooVille Title/Ranking System

Would be nice if there was also a post explaining the limitations of each rank, as I can't seem to join any groups. Unless I'm just blind as fuck and haven't looked for it properly.
Edit: confirmed as blind

You just have to read the resources threads. Every question you have is already answered there
just like this one

Yeah definitely a case of me being blind, found it and read it.
Cheers

I have more than 10 posts but I still don't have pms enabled... Am I missing something?

This is a question that gets asked VERY often on here, and it's not like it's some obscure secret that nobody is supposed to know about. So I figured I'd start this thread so that anytime anyone is curious about ZooVille's ranking/title system, it can be referenced.

Your rank is based off of post count the majority of the time, exceptions will be listed below the table.

Posts Count:
Ranking/Title:
0-9
Lurker
10-149
Tourist
150-249
ZooVille Settler
250-999
Citizen of ZooVille
1,000-4,999
Esteemed Citizen of ZV
5,000-9,999
Prized Citizen of ZV
10,000+
Supreme Citizen of ZV

*Fun & Games, Profile posts, and I believe posts in any Groups in the groups tab: DO NOT count towards your post count.

EXCEPTIONS:
  • If you donate $50 or more in BTC you will receive the title "ZooVille Philanthropist" For more information about that (Click Here)
  • Soon, we plan to have a "Dumpster Diver" status given to 3 people 1 person a year if you primarily post in the dumpster fire section. For more information about that (Click Here)
  • Moderator and Administrator privileges. We are able to set our own custom title, if we so choose. However, "Moderator" and "Administrator" are the default titles for staff members here depending on our role.
  • Update: We've also added a "Neighborhood Watcher" moderator role. Which are moderators with a couple less capabilities than a regular moderator.
As far as I'm aware, there's nothing past the rank/title of Supreme Citizen of ZV.

If you wish to move up in the ranks get to post... post... posting! Your rank is one thing, but your likes have to be earned! Unless you just repost other people's pornographic material. Lol
Thanks for all your great work managing this site 🥰

Not a fan of the ranking system not gonna lie.
Here's a much better idea.
For every thousand posts you make should say something about your character. IT should really be reflected on how helpful you are to others finding their way. You know we are a community, but it feels like a title should mean more than a contributor's consolation prize.
So for example:
Posts #1 - #50. 'New member, say hello!'
Those who say hello, earn points towards something you can buy with site credit. Maybe it's a special profile photo. Maybe it's a photo gallery or an award. Maybe it's co-writing a good article based on great points and featuring it. For every post a new member makes, help guide them to a better understanding and a safe fun time.
Posts #50 - #200. 'Promotes quality mentions with references.' Maybe on this level you earn special access rights to new forums based on recognition...maybe it's fair that you get VIP access to some kind of online zoo event...no need to have it be about sex all the time.
Posts #200+. 'Special Contributor' After awhile, feeling special isn't addictive anymore. And you want people to know who you are by being you. So maybe after awhile you're more casual with others who have achieved the same status as you.
I think ranks have to mean something other than a branded badge, I really do as they're right now under serving our community potential. And it shouldn't be gifted as default. You should be able to have quizzes with others about their knowledge or insight, and really help people be apart of zoo culture. We should be here for our own more, and get recognized whether we're a vet, or a tipster for a specific species or for other skills we have picked up through our life experiences.
There is a whole lot of satire going on because people just don't know what to do with themselves, but they know they wish to be attentive to others of similar mind set. Just something to think about. I'm only a tourist after all.

I have tried similar on gaming forums and guess what, no one cared about the ranks.

Ranks these days are like Reddit points. Basically valueless, except to few. No one cares about ranking up a forum account, they just want to participate in what they want to participate in, and be on their way.

A complicated ranking system will turn away new members who see this as "too much", and they'd be right. Ranks have a minor gatekeeping purpose, but going beyond things like PM, or mediat attachments, will drive some new users away.

It's been this way awhile, maybe spend more than 24 hours here to get a feel for the place before you start suggesting major system changes.

*reads the comments with both amazement and surprise* Thanks for the initial (reference) post @FloofyNewfie, it's helpful. Some/many of the comments though left me scratching my head. After I joined it didn't take overly long to reach 'Citizen' status as there was a LOT of material to look at (still is) but the time spent came at some cost to my attentions towards the equines here that I help care for. Then there is/was the enthusiasm and 'excitement' of the newness here. It'll probably take me another year or so to reach 1,000 posts as there are not enough hours in my day for all the things that require my attention. Care for the equines comes first and, being elderly, I require more rest between physical activities.

When I see some members that have huge numbers of posts I'm left to wonder how much of a life they have aside from social media platforms? From experience and observation I know that, in most instances, equine (and large animal) keeping takes a good deal of time compared to say canine and feline keeping. Anyway my main focus here on ZV is to help and inform others seeking to know the heart of equines. I'll leave the mentoring for other species to those so focused. Honestly caring for another living being isn't, nor should it be, 'rocket science'...

Namaste'
