Telegram usage???

I'm noticing alot of videos with watermarks for Telegram and a number of folks on discord want to link up via telegram.

To my recollection, downloading the app required my personal phone number and additional info the feel foolish to disclose.

Am I just paranoid? Are y'all using burner phones? Whats happening, am I too old and behind the times on tech?
 
the phone number is only used for initial sign up verification , then you can turn it off , .
if you dont wanna use your phone, download a burner number app

and yes its fine to use, i suggest everyone read the actual privacy stuff, and not just choose things based off what they hear on the internet

( this will pop up when ever someone mentions tele lol, just dont like uninformed decisions)

they are offering $300k for anyone who can prove that messages are accessible via anywhere on the server, other than where user accounts are logged in.

yes there are more secure apps, if talking is all you wanna do signal or session etc is fine. but for any sort of content tele is it, longest running so user base is estableshed and nobody is moving all thier stuff lol

Telegram can decrypt your messages, their group chats are not end to end encrypted and they do work with law enforcement.
Read up on their recent history.

If you see videos with contacts in them on this forum, report them, thanks. We do not allow that.
Discord is an even worse choice for privacy by the way.
 
I personally wouldn’t go anywhere near Telegram due to the reasons pes mentions.

The group chats not being end to end encrypted leaves it fairly open to hackers IMO and if law enforcement are digging around those chats I’m guessing it wouldn’t be hard for them to hack that either..
 
Can you cite the telegram able to decrypt messages? My understanding was they’re only able to report IP addresses for law enforcement.

The chats are server side encrypted. The servers belong to telegram.
I have not used telegram for a while.
Does it have a report button for messages? If it does, then that is one way they can definitely decrypt and read the message, which would be applicable to more than one message easily.
 
Telegram's CEO was recently pressured into letting the law enforcement in and they gave in.

Make your own opinion on it and then decide whether you want to use it.
You are going to find information from both sides and whether you use it or not depends on what you find to be a problem or not.
 
There’s no report button I know of. Yes they can get some data and if you’re talking to an officer of course they can make full copies of everything you say with the simple method of taking pictures of the phones screen. But the safest I know is auto deleting private (encrypted) telegram chats. Kik and others are fully integrated into law enforcement.

But at the same time, they really don’t care about zoo. They care about the other things which it appears a lot of zoos take part in which are forbidden on this site.
