Incorrect. Telegram is more of a chatting platform than it is a secure messaging app. They use their own protocol that hasn't been audited, and they even store the decryption key for your messages on their server. If you want security, use Signal. Honestly just don't have conversations you want for your eyes only on telegram. Research the Durov arrest.
like i said , i suggest people read the latest TOS and privacy policy. as of last year a lot of things have changed in a good way.
most strict terms are primarily for EU, even then its not much
they really are primally focused on CSAM users, and Terrorism.
unless your posting public stories daily about your zoo life, nobody will ever care to notice. its also all AI based, and pretty limited to the search function . i literally just reread thru the TOS and PA.
That only means it’s difficult for people they aren’t compelled by law to capitulate to, like legal agencies. It definitely does NOT mean they don’t store your info and private keys to supply to legal entities.
also depends what chat your using, secret chats are E2E so the is zero server storage, only access and keys are on the users device and only that origination device....if i start a chat on my phone, it doesnt show on my pc since there is no server access key
Q: Do you process data requests?
Secret chats use end-to-end encryption, thanks to which we don't have any data to disclose.
To protect the data that is not covered by end-to-end encryption, Telegram uses a distributed infrastructure. Cloud chat data is stored in multiple data centers around the globe that are controlled by different legal entities spread across different jurisdictions. The relevant decryption keys are split into parts and are never kept in the same place as the data they protect. As a result, several court orders from different jurisdictions are required to force us to give up any data.
Thanks to this structure, we can ensure that no single government or block of like-minded countries can intrude on people's privacy and freedom of expression. Telegram can be forced to give up data only if an issue is grave and universal enough to pass the scrutiny of several different legal systems around the world.
To this day, we have disclosed 0 bytes of user messages to third parties, including governments.
No governments going to the effort spend to collab together so they can catch bob and sue having dog sex, not worth time or expense
