Heres a true curiousity. Polack Johnny had this in the Baltimore Block Sausage Shop ....best thing between two buns imaginable....well second best...I never saw it....the Historical Society got it right before I started hitting the strip joints....But one day Ill get back there....This was a penny version of a nickelodeonFB_IMG_1694544682432.jpg

One of my range mustangs eating Windwitch, aka Russian Thistle... Foals and yearlings wont eat it, because it tickles a tender mouth, but the adults...this Guy is called "Chase" by his fanciers....eat the younger stems with some relish.

Toward the Summer's end, the plant dries up, breaks its stem and becomes a tumbleweed.Eating Windwitch aka Russian Thistle, aka tw.jpg

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to build if straight, instead?
Yes, If theyd been able. But the Bay bottom isnt stable in many places. They needed to build it where there was SOME deep water for Naval Yard traffic and still be the shortest route from the Shore to Annapolis. The upper Bay sees a lot of BIG freighters into Baltimore....the high part of the Bridge allows transit.

Interesting, thank-you.
