A 1940 Norman Lindsay painting. This artist shipped many of his paintings to the US from his studio in Australia to avoid the possibility of destruction by the Japanese then in New Guinea. The Train carrying them from the East Coast was stopped, inspected for contraband and sabotage. A Policeman found the paintings and had them burned as pornography.
