From the very beginning of our history. The Revolutionary Army and the Various militia were mostly paid in Land scrip....redeemable at a future date tbd....ultimately, many fortunes were made by people who could wait for the day and had spare money to use. That land scrip was sold for about a penny an acre.But the soldiers got little of it.
