I think they did, miz K...In the reno work they did around 1980-ish for the Centennial ( 1886 ) the workers discovered some assembly issues that, a few years hence would have had pieces of Lady Liberty flying off in a high wind....Steel rivets on copper skin, I think.

From the very beginning of our history. The Revolutionary Army and the Various militia were mostly paid in Land scrip....redeemable at a future date tbd....ultimately, many fortunes were made by people who could wait for the day and had spare money to use. That land scrip was sold for about a penny an acre.But the soldiers got little of it.

In the 1800s, in varying Dimensions this was standard wear under a Lady's dress. Queen Victoria' s Jubilee celebrations generated a lot of souvenirs....one was a bustle like this that played "God Save the Queen" when the wearer sat....which of course meant every person in the room had to stand...then she sat again and ??...and repeat.
