WHY? This seems like a massive case of overmodding. Ruins the fun here and instills a fear of mods - one that is already present.
Agreed that it was excessive. And the result is unpleasant. One person said "just recreate the deleted thread", then we find out that the thread is deleted (by a mod of course). How is an Active Girls thread prohibited? Really? It boggles my mind thatt it would now be mod policy to delete threads that people actually want.
I've modded fora for over 20 years and can't fathom the thinking of any mods that would delete certain popular and in use threads
and the deletion of attempts of recreation of those threads. Just baffling and ruins a fun atmosphere here.
And that sucks. Honestly, it does.
Agreed
100% 100% 100%. The cleanup was needed
BUT lots of used threads were removed. And then forbidden to be added again!! With no mention why or what is allowed and what isn't! And more junk that needed to be removed wasn't.
This was a sloppy unannounced job with poor results and which left a lingering bad taste between users and moderators.
Can intro posts be automated to be deleted after 6 months? Can it be made a listed moderation policy - for both mods and users to be able to read?
And I just read that attempts at making a new "active girls" threads are being deleted. So there is some reason why "starting another one" is forbidden but there is no list posted saying it's forbidden.

This is arbitrary deletion "because we say so". This sucks and is a sure way that overmodding can kill a forum. I've seen it happen before.
