Most of the time, in the UK, any un-neutered and unspayed dogs are operated on before finding homes. If it is companionship you are looking for always visit the local animal shelter, of course. Otherwise look at KC-registered breeders, and always visit! There are so many puppy farms, bent on taking your money with no care for the well-being of the poor animals they harbour.
