I joined this site out of pure curiosity. I am one of those people who immediately considered any kind of sexual interaction with animals to be entirely abusive in every single context. But I am a reasonable person and rather than expecting someone to take their time to truly educate me I decided to do the research myself and as a former “anti” I was thinking perhaps someone would want to know how I felt/feel/how we can be convinced to see zoophilia in a different light. If I could vote for someone to represent zoophilia as a kind of ambassador to the public I would chose floofynewfie. I don’t say that to put them up to that daunting of a task but rather to praise their clear communication skills, and ability to show great empathy while also having a zero tolerance policy towards abuse. The problem with zoophilia as I see it is that it can easily become abusive because of the vulnerability and lack of animal rights. I also now believe the only way to truly combat that abuse is through education-not outright banning the practice. Education that cannot happen successfully on a wide scale with the publics current view of zoophilia. I have personally learned and decided for myself the following things:
-Spaying and neutering for non medical reasons is unethical and animals are deserving of their natural sexual inclinations or lack thereof just like people. I will no longer be neutering my male dog or any future animals I have.
-Sexually mature and fully adult animals can consent to sexual activity so long as they are ultimately in control of said actions as they will always be the more vulnerable party.
Entirely robbing them of the ability to ever even have a choice in whether or not they will engage in sex for pleasure or otherwise is cruel and lazy. I understand that there is an overpopulation problem and I am unsure of how to tackle that outside of responsible breeding/more limits on who can own animals. Perhaps, like for adopting human children, one should have to demonstrate the ability to financially and emotionally care for their pet. I think animal husbandry is a privilege and not a right and if you can not handle the full responsibility of caring for another life you should either have to work to better yourself and prove that you can, or simply enjoy visiting animals who you are not immediately responsible for the health and well-being of. For the sake of animals, and those that truly love them I believe the legalization and regulation of zoophilia just makes sense. There could be proper laws regarding age and actions one can take. Obviously this won’t stop all abuse from occurring but neither do laws that supposedly protect humans prevent all rape and crime. This would however make education for people of this sexuality more accessible and deter unintended abuse from occurring. It might even stop someone who would otherwise treat it as just a fetish from seeing it in a morally inconsequential way. I think having an out and open community that’s visible enough for young/closeted/all zoophiles with how-to’s, codes of conduct, and ethics similar to the ones available on this site would be a better deterrent to the abuse of animals than our current system of damning everyone who is sexually attracted to animals and genuinely means them no harm. I’ve even come to think that if my dog were to start behaving in a way that showed he was experiencing sexual frustration that I would be inclined to find him a human partner to “date” him because it would prevent us from contributing to the over population of animals, while I have also come to see that some of you truly deeply love animals in even more than just a sexual manner, and I mean romantically. I love animals very much, but I do not experience sexual attraction which has allowed me to view this through a purely moral and non puritanical lens. I have also grown to see my dog as a more complex individual than just my “baby”. I have watched some porn on this site and recognized what a consenting animal looks like, but I have also reported one or two things that didn’t sit right with me. (The mods agreed, and the content was removed promptly which also impressed me) I don’t know if this will be met will anger for me invading your space, or what but I thought that maybe this perspective would be interesting for those of you who want to know how/if it’s possible to change the opinions of non zoophilic people. I am just one person, but I can honestly say that I no longer hold the same hateful and damning views I once had for your community. Thank you again to floofynewfie and also pes for your dedication to education of people who join this forum, and the safety of animals. Anyone who wants to talk further or communicate with me at all is welcome to message me here. I’ll continue to visit to help report abusive content and read some of the lovely romantic stories written here about people and their animal partners.
