Mastiffs aren't as big as you would think. I've been with over a dozen. They're pretty consistently slightly above average. Boerboels, Bloodhounds, Kangals, Alabais, Bully Kuttas, and Filas are consistently the largest in size. Definitely are some large Danes out there, but there's plenty of very average ones, too.
I don't think Saints are consistently in that grouping. Maybe very very close in average size with Bloodhounds. They're probably top 10 though.You forgot saints.
Fair enough. I've only been hands on with 3 saints. But all 3 were Duke's size give or take... still that's bigger than 99% of anything anyone has been able to add to this thread.... with any sort of evidence. So I'd still say that puts them in the upper running. Have yet to meet a hound or Kangal that matches in overall size. Only length.
It would certainly be interesting to see a volume test of all breeds, with at least 10 members from different bloodlines, to know for sure. I've been with three Saints as well and Duke is larger than any of the three I have seen. They're certainly all big, though, just not on par with the several Boerboels I've seen and very similar or smaller than the three Bloodhounds I've been with.
