In practice, at least in my experience, it never seemed to matter what kind of underwear I wore, but rather, they were coming off

For me, being tall and a bit disproportionate, high-waist and mid-rise underwear, jeans, trousers, skirts and the like are best for me. I really don't like waistbands landing right on the top of my hip bone.
