What song are you listening to?

Welcome to the wild world of harsh noise/harsh noise wall/HNW. I don't "get it" either. I've heard some find it relaxing...
I generally prefer black metal for my day-to-day listening, but power electronics/death industrial/noise is an elite choice, and yes, very relaxing. It is tragic that few people understand the work that goes into it and what real, high quality power electronics/death industrial/noise actually sounds like. Operation Cleansweep, Deathpile, Genocide Organ, Brighter Death Now, Sutcliffe Jugend, Whitehouse, Ramleh, Purient, Controlled Bleeding, and my personal favorite, Alberich:
Alberich-Rumbala
Someone such as yourself might prefer something less intense, like:
Sutcliffe Jugend-Shame
If you cannot understand the beauty in these tracks, I won't be able to help you see...unless I try some power electronics/death industrial/noise adjacent black metal:
Gnaw Their Tongues-Sound The Horns, The Water Is Poisoned!
God I love Maurice De Jong, if I were to meet any musician, it would certainly have to be him.

Closest I've been able to get to enjoying noise or anything adjacent is some of the noisier Tim Hecker stuff, and I don't really think that's even very close lol. I think it's probably a combo of the tracks being both too harsh and too long? I think I can handle short and harsh or long and mellow? Dunno. Uhhhhhhh, I mean like, long and mellow but somehow with a vaguely similar vibe is like... Sunn O))) maybe? I can get down with that. Some of the Tim Hecker stuff has pretty abrasive, piercing portions but they're very very short and used sparingly.

No hate from me though brotha. I can see the appeal from the distance, but it just never clicked for me for whatever reason. When I say I don't get it I mean exactly that. *I* don't get it, I'm not implying that there's nothing to get. More abstract stuff like this I think is harder in some ways because it's less definable what makes it "good" to people that enjoy it so I get the difficulty in composition and execution for sure.

Sutcliffe Jugend-Shame

Wait, wait. Actually, I can get down with this a bit. I'd be more into if some of the edge was taken off and it was a bit "spacier" but I think that kind of defeats the point. Putting it in the queue for a future look though. Thanks homeslice.
