What kind of things land people in jail?

Zoophilia tends to be one of those disgust based social infractions. The good things about those is that.... They tend to not have any consequences/effects outside of others perception of it....
So, as long others don't directly perceive it... Nothing happens.
There's no trail of drug deals to follow, no traumatized kids going to therapy, no illegal arms connected to murders.
It only harms people's sense of "decency"

Does anyone ever think about the post-mortem situation where you die from, say, a bad car accident and your family inherits all of your possessions? I think about that a lot. You could be super safe and keep your content offline and maybe on a thumb drive but if that falls into the wrong hands...I mean, I know I'd be dead so it doesn't matter but I think a lot about how that would affect the people I care about, especially since I wouldn't be around to "defend" myself. The digital content might be easy enough to make it so no-one ever finds it but I've yet to solve the toys problem.

I would be most terrified for my animals.
I know they don't get put down anymore, but they'd certainly be put through either genital mutilation surgery, and denied the close connections they've gotten so used to.
Spit on my grave all you want, just let them have a happy life after me.

For sure, that's super scary.

Spain is, recently.
From what I was able to find, it's not saying its 100% legal. Basically you'll get a fine if there's no injury, and if there is, prison time.
BTW, since Wikipedia removed everything relating to laws with zoophilia, I got both by country/territory and the US pages up. Still needs a little work, such as flags since a few US states do not have the correct ones.

Apparently Florida now has a law that possessing zoo porn is illegal. I'll have to check on that. They may need to update their source link, since the full read out is gone from Wikipedia.
Haven't re-checked the website but hasn't that map not been updated since like 2015? Florida amended the law in 2021 so that's far outdated.

Doing another look up.. I took that from a lawyers site. Though looking at Florida's actual site seems mostly it's talking about towards minors. I'll take that out, but do some more looking up.

Be very careful accepting anything like this as Gospel....the Wiki article it came from was likely dropped because idiots liked to "edit" it. If this current Verein article doesnt have an error or two carried over, Id be surprised.

IF YOU are in doubt about what is permitted( not just the " oh, there's no law forbidding it", but PERMITTED), play it safe and check the law. Most libraries will have copies of currently in-force local law. Its your life, potentially, if you take bad advice. So take it into your OWN hands.

True. I was going through the way back machine to see if anything was different through a couple of years. One reason claimed vandalism. Seems someone removed the US version in one of them.
I think there was a state or two that needed updating.
Also, looking through the laws of Florida on obscenity, it just seems like if someone doesn't like it, you'll face consequences.

True my friend....Nitwits abound in the World....and they always seem up for screwing with peoples lives.

Poor wording on my part, I was saying that ZETA-Verein's legality map is very outdated. You were correct that Florida outlawed possession.
This is the current law.

Edit: I actually looked instead of guessing. 2015 is close enough to 2019 I guess. But regardless it's no longer accurate.

ZETA-Verein has a map showing legality of intercourse, possession of zoo porn and sale of zoo porn. https://www.zeta-verein.de/en/zoophilia/worldmap-zoophilia/

the original source is a wikipedia article but, given zeta-verein's prominence i trust them enough to be reasonably accurate.

i do want to know if anyone has gotten into legal trouble simply from possessing zoo porn which could disprove zeta's map for those localities
that is very useful, thank you

I've been in various online zoo communities over 25 years and paying attention to this issue, and fwiw, I don't know of any cases in the U.S. of people charged for mere possession of beastiality porn. For producing it of themselves, yes. For commercially selling beast porn (i.e., that they were not personally involved in making), yes, but only a very few cases.

For those actually engaging in it... yeah, like previous posters have said, a range of factors that mostly come down to being insufficiently careful, but sometimes with a helping of bad luck.

Arrests of people who are at least moderately careful with their k9 activity and who don't come to police attention for unrelated reasons seem pretty uncommon.

Beyond being careful about who you meet, would agree with previous suggestions to keep stuff off your phone. Personally I'm careful to never look at *anything* NSFW or engage in any NSFW communications with my phone, however vanilla, lest evidence of it somehow become visible to anyone in a work or regular social setting. If you're going to self-shoot, a separate camera used only for such activities is a good idea (don't forget to delete the EXIF information from the files).
