What is the best way to make a plushie-toy?

Have been considering for a while of turning a cat plushie of mine into a toy to have fun with, but im not sure how to start about it. Need to find the right animal toy which is hard enough, but also the process of sewing it in may be tougher than I think, so im looking for some pointers! Appreciate any help or tips!

Unsew a hole in the right place, sew a sock that fits a fleshlight, and you are mostly done.
