own a small farm.
I dance.
Hey, @Bigpaws_Bear, I have a friend in Alaska that also owns a small private farm, with ponies, which gets visited by moose. My friend and their person are in the process of building a beautiful fire tower house. They are constantly mending fences and repairing things.
I understand the appeal of rural life, but it is not for me. I am a city zoo.
Magic word: FarmI still work actively, and I own a small farm. staying ACTIVE is easy in my case.
I stay busy enough, I do not miss not having game consoles anymore.
Ah, now that is one benefit of being in a rural area that is hard to come by in a relatively brightly lit city, a clear view of the stars. I am fortunate that I have relatively good air quality where I live, so the glare of city lights is not really as bad as that of Gotham City.
A fire tower house would be awesome, But I have something slightly different in mind.
I want to build my next home with an observatory on top. it'll be at least a 2 story structure to accommodate this nicety.
I don't mean one of those giant dome things, that's unrealistic. more like a sliding metal shed on rails to move away from a covered platform,
that holds all the optical equipment.
Something like this perhaps.
I'm an avid hiker, love love LOVE to be outdoors, and am quite comfy camping and backpacking. What do you do to keep active and fit?
Ah, that's big farming with serious equipment!I farm too but the farming isn't the hard work. Most of that is done sitting in an air conditioned cab working fingertip controls. It's the changing 1200 lb tires and 96 blades on 1 implement that take the manual labor.
Yep. But you should try standing on top of one of those tractors looking out over a literal square mile of dark green corn and thinking "I did that".Ah, that's big farming with serious equipment!
Been there and done that. But not so much anymore. Now I just help when needed, more with cutting wood.Magic word: Farm
Shovelling shit. Pushing wheelbarrows. Stacking hay. Unstacking hay. Humping feedbags around. Working fences. Chasing strays/escapees. Up and down ladders to the loft. Patching the barn roof. Wrestling with critters that don't want their feet trimmed, meds given, teeth checked. And the list goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and........................
When you work with livestock, who the hell needs a gym membership?!?!?!?!??![]()
