I call it getting the mark of the beast. 
The surface scratches are a great reminder of the fun you had and it gives me joy looking at them. As for the deeper, more painful scratches, those are less fun... Wearing clothes you don't mind getting stretched out and scratched, as well as pants with the ass section opened can help avoid getting it too bad.

When I was younger I had a friend ask about my claw marks. I made up some story that I wrecked my dirt bike in the woods. I have a scar that is about 20 years old from a very aggressive Lab. He was a great lover.
