Other than sheer cuteness there's not much difference between full sized and miniatures, well other than a half ton or so less mass ?

And any equine is far better than none, but yes you definitely need a mini or smaller pony.

Very highly recommend it, was training one of mine and kept one that was long term, well worth the effort to house train them.
