By todays standards, yes....but seventy years ago, disposables were in their infancy. It was either cans or bottles.For machine dispensables, glass bottles were asking for disaster in larger sizes. Can linings were also new tech, and not effective against taste changes. The heavy waxed board these containers were formed from had the needed strength, and an inert interior.Interesting. From the perspective of packaging cost, that package looks more expensive than it needs to be.
I have seen another photograph of this, taken from a different perspective, and it shows a slightly different aspect of it. It is a well-photographed place, lots of people go to do Tiktoks and things. Still very clever though..not for a million
