I wonder if this is true. Saddlebum probably knows.

I suppose its possible, since the silhouette has been around since the early seventies or before, but I've never heard it specifically associated with Bettie. In the 50s, it wouldn't have been....too much competition in the pinup world, and Bettie was not much in the biz thru the sixties....What the people fooled themselves into thinking was a Sexual Revolution was also a reflection of beauty standards. The Girlie mags wanted fresh meat.
Bunny Yeager said she would not shoot total nudes and meant it. I think Bettie probably felt the same. I dont think, based on what Ive read, she would have volunteered for that mission.
And keep in mind, condoms were not universally legal across the US. In Maryland, for instance, in 1978, I was still buying them out of undercounter paper bags.
"The Pill" and "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" didnt change a damn thing....the folk just convinced themselves it did. 'Everybody else' was getting something they weren't....they thought. Gawd, If half of what we thought was true back then WAS true, Id have been dangerous.
Aintcha glad you asked?
