According to ZME Science, what you see here is the amazing caterpillar of the Saturniidae moth. The Saturniidae family includes the largest moth species, which are generally characterized by heavy bodies covered with hair-like scales, lobed wings, reduced mouthparts, and small heads. Most species live in tropical and subtropical areas, but some have also adapted to temperate climates. This one, however, is truly spectacular. The saturation of this image has been enhanced; the actual color is not quite as vivid. Nevertheless, it is breathtaking nature that even AI could not top... Thank you for sharing this image.
