With both leopards and jaguars it's estimated that at most 10% of the population is melanistic. In jaguars it's a dominant trait, but that doesn't appear to increase the prevalence of it, and there may be as few as 600 melanistic jaguars total in the wild.
And my last one for today… The "Gate to Hell," a crater in Turkmenistan's Karakum Desert, has been burning since 1971. The fire was caused by natural gas escaping from an underground cavity discovered during a drilling operation. The flames have been blazing for over 50 years, despite plans to close the crater.
Another Packard....A 1937 model, this one is set up as a Motorhome. As a Memorial Day nod, Packard powered this with a Straight 12-cylinder, but when the 2nd WW broke out, their R&D division came up with a 2 speed supercharged V-12 based on the RR Merlin Fighter plane Engines. These units powered US Navy PT Boats. After the War Packard became another War Casualty, struggling along til they merged with Studebaker....and finally sinking into the wreckage of the pre-war world in 1962. My grandparents owned a Packard....til about 1953. They traded it for a 53 Chevy, and they guy who got it turned it into a Pick-up for his Service station.
Mara Corday, Scream Queen extraordinaire....She ran
from Bugs and Spiders all through her early career. Clint Eastwood was a bit part fighter pilot in 1955s "Tarantula"...In the Original Dirty Harry movie, Eastwood gave her a role as the counter gal oversugaring his coffee... Still a bit of a babe 20 years past this Picture
A Rockwell advert, " What a Protection is Electric Light!" Pappy has an Aladdin oil lamp and a .44cal. 1858 Remington... Whatever the disturbance is, that .44 will cure it. At a guess, Id say this is about 1918, but it could be as late as the REA days in the Tennessee River Valley around 1955
