Thank you @Blacksoul for posting. Most beautiful time of year. And last for today... The cherry blossom (桜, sakura) is Japan's unofficial national flower. It has been celebrated for many centuries and holds a prominent position in Japanese culture. There are dozens of cherry tree varieties in Japan, most of which bloom for just a few days in spring. The seasonal spectacle is celebrated with hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties under the trees.

Just a friendly clarification for those who were less than pleased about the low number of gharials, I was visiting the guy who's working on saving them. While the big deal is that there's less than 2 miles of river habitat left where they live (which sucks badly), there is another hidden location of breeding gharials which they are working on protecting so there's hope. And on another related but not related note, one of the people I work with on a business level was involved in getting the 7 cheetahs "gifted" to India to help reestablish the species there. Honestly, if we were allowed to own cheetahs as pets, there'd be no way they'd be endangered. Personally, I use them for Chihuahua control and as a Paris Hilton repellent with fantastic results. To date, Paris Hilton has not been spotted near my vicinity, so I consider this a win and proof of their effectiveness. It turns out that even scary crocogators love blowing bubbles. Don't worry, these guys only like fish. There's about 800 of these guys left in the world, so not much to worry about.

Hi PV. It's not a throwaway remark at all. Since I'm still new here, I try to keep things light even on touchy subjects like that. But I did feel the need to mention that there are only ~800 (according to Google) left of this rare species of crocodile. Like you, for a long time I felt straight out anger at this. But that just leave me angry and them still endangered. Now, I step back, because the situation sucks in the first place. If I let myself get angry, then I'm not solving it and since I decided to be angry about it now feel like crap too. "OK", I think to my self, "don't be angry about it, do something to fix it." To get a better understanding of the reality they face, and what's being done to save the species, I went to the leading conservation group to understand it all better and see if I could do anything. Nepal's also got gharials and IMO, the location(s) where they are is much better suited to allow them to recover and survive than the endless mass of people that is India. PM me if you want to know more. Happy to know you care about them. There are lots of people working to save them.I think what you probably think is a throwaway remark about the almost extinct gharial is awful. We are the invasive species and we ought to be doing much, much more to save the animals that "get in our way". We destroy and pollute wherever we go. If we don't like something, because it's ugly (perceived to be) or it tramples our crops, we wipe it out. Look what has happened to the white rhino or the orang utan.
I'm sorry, but I would much rather there were thousands instead of "only 800".
What beautiful eyes she had!!!
Is she a fairy or a witch?
