My partner told me no in response to me request of getting a dog someday that would potentially have the opportunity to play with me. Specifically getting one that is not neutered.

They're paranoid that it would be suspicious or weird trying to get a dog and not getting him neutered. And also worried about how he would behave around other people if he starts playing with me.

Okay with us getting a dog in general, but not specifically trying to get one that would be able to satisfy my desires/needs.

Not sure if anyone has advice

You can train the dog only to execute “insert behavior” when commanded. They’ll be fine with others if you do the work. There are instructions here.

There is nothing suspicious about wanting an intact animal that hasn’t suffered genital mutilation.

Because these excuses are so trivial to solve, I feel like they aren’t the real issue.

This is what makes us look like monsters by the way. Where is the consent in the "fuck now" command? I have gone into depth on how incredibly twisted this is when people use training to make animals fuck them.

I was mainly talking about “don’t fuck”. As in don’t show interest if you don’t hear the code word, in response to op asking about the animal being weird around others. Like no red rocket if you don’t see the blanket. No humping unless you hear the all clear word.

Yea my ex said the same thing approximately x years ago. So after xx years of that relationship I finally said " I love you but I'm leaving , these are my issues x,y,z, and the dog thing. We weren't married but our finances were intertwined . It sucked , I cried almost every night leading up to it. 😅

But a funny thing happened about x years ago after starting over. I'm doing everything I've always wanted. I don't even miss or think about the ex .
 
Yes, I very much love my partner. And they even love this aspect of my sexuality. They have no problem with me having sex with a dog, it's just the logistical issues with adopting a dog that would be able to have such a relationship with me that give them pause.

Realistically, we have a few years at least to make such a decision as we currently live in an apartment and don't want to confine our dog in such a way. We would wait until we have a home with a yard
 
I’ve owned male dogs for ages and never had an issue. Biggest thing is the first visit with your vet. If they don’t give you any flak you’re fine. If they do, you either say “I’m keeping him intact because xyz” or you find a new vet. If you’re worried about people on the street, don’t be. Or, get a long haired dog. My lab hid his balls quite nicely with his black fur and long hair. My Dane however
. Those stick out like a sore thumb 😂

Yea, watch that "maybe one day "turn into a problem time after time. It's verbatim what my ex told me for years. It was never a good time . Then finally after I injected 25% of my savings into his loan applications, I brought it up again.

Finally he admitted, it wasn't a money issue or time use issue, he just flat out couldn't risk his career if I were to get in trouble with it. He just never figured id press him on it. In my mind that means he strung me along for xx years all the while having no interest in making it a reality.

Have fun coming to that realization a few more years from now.
I hope it's worth the wait and he's not just saying whatever to keep you from leaving.

Don't you think it's wierd that they are the one that's worried how others will perceive you guys having an un fixed dog? I think , he or they , might actually just have an issue about sharing you with a dog. And that's a reasonable concern for most people, but why feel the need to lie about it?

"OH baby it's just , people would wonder you know , we are already under a microscope because of our alternative relationship " . So if they are worried about that right now , how would buying a home together change that worry?

They are just kicking the can down the road and hoping it's a faze you grow out of. Hoping that years later and tens of thousands of dollars spent you'll just drop it and be a good little house wife.

I feel for you , because just like me you atleast tried to make it work and were honest , gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I can definitely state with certainty that my partner has no problem with me fucking a dog. Or sharing me - we're polyamorous and they actually go out of their way to make sure I can have other partners any time I want. They really want to watch me do it even. Hell they watch videos of it more than I do. They just get paranoid and don't want me to do anything that could get me in trouble

To clarify, they told me 'no' when I asked if they would get me an intact dog. They said "I'm not getting you a dog just so you can fuck him". However they also wouldn't stop me if I just got one on my own.
 
oh and the mention of a house part. that's on me. we're currently in a small apartment with two cats and no yard. I want my dogs to have an actual yard and space to run. I don't just want a dog to fuck - I want a dog to love and I want to treat him and take care of him in a loving manner

But you will create a lot of resentment if you do this. It has to be a partnership or it’ll cause the relationship to wane and fail over time.

Yeah an intact dog is totally normal. If you really need some kind of cover story, get a pure bred of some sort. Anything that has value in their sperm. You can tell people you're keeping him intact incase you decide to stud him out. Don't want to chop off the golden goose. Quote made up conversations with breeders saying how much money you could stud him for. None of it has to be real. If it's just him being paranoid, make an alibi together.
 
while i understand the desire to sate that knot lust (seriously) it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth that it’s such a problem if he’s fixed or not. at the end of the day you’re getting a pet and a companion, just because he can’t creampie you shouldn’t discourage you from adopting a friend.

Funny, that never crossed my mind. Good point. I'm of the opposite view, only getting a dog if it's neutered is cruel to me. Chopping their bits off just because someone thinks it's 'weird'.

i totally can agree with that too, but imo it shouldn’t be the determining factor you know? i think that the OP’s partner just doesn’t know enough about canine sexual behavior and is just paranoid about ruining his life with a charge. maybe try sitting down with them and going through some of the resources here; maybe it’d reassure them ^-^

oh we're absolutely adopting a dog regardless. a sexual relationship is secondary here.

we love rescue dogs. unfortunately the almost always require them to be neutered - that's where the trouble comes into play with intent and everything

i’m glad! i believe it’s law in a lot of places to neuter before adoption. sadly one of the better ways would be from breeders; unfortunately that usually excludes the dogs who need homes </3
