I had seen that most of the posts are talking about the sexual side of zoo which is a big part! But a big part of what is important to me about my zooey-ness is the romantic feelings I have toward nonhumans not just the sexual attraction. Specifically dogs and birds. And I was hoping we could talk about that more. I've been itching to share this with people!

I want to gush about how beautiful they are. How each individual has so many unique quirks and I want to learn more about them every time I meet one. The way they get excited about exploring the world and how they go about learning it teaches me a lot. They have so much wisdom that humans don't have and they're just such amazing creatures! I just am amazed about the fact that thousands of years ago those first k9s started a friendly relationship with humanity.
We stare at each other in much the same way I'm sure those first tribes of humans did. Mimic each others body language. Trying to understand each other. Protecting each other , hunting, sharing shelter, food, and developing a strong bond that transcends time itself.

That shared emotional anxiety when you are apart comes from thousands of years of intertwined interaction. All dogs are pack animals. We are blessed to share the land with them.

Its natural and rewarding for humans to bond with other higher mammals, especially mammals who have adapted gregarious behaviors like pack and herd animals. I think dogs are the most natural fit since they have been domesticated to be companions rather than beasts of burden or food. I see no reason why a human cannot fall in love with a dog and choose a dog as their mate.
