Intact male with kids in the home. NOT SEXUAL!

I understand reasons why some people rather not neuter their dog. But putting aside sexual stuff because they don’t seem like the type. What do you do about your dog being horny.
My neighbors daughter is married and has kids they are both little. They also have an intact chocolate lab. What I’m trying to say is what do you explain to your kids when the dog is humping a pillow and his dick is hanging out. What do you tell them when the dog is trying to mount a random dog. I feel like if you live in a regular neighborhood you should either neuter your dog or keep on a leash (and they don’t) to prevent it from impregnating an equally bad owner’s (in this circumstance) intact female. I know because I’m close to the neighbor that they don’t breed him. Anyone have any answers?

I grew up on a ranch as a young girl I saw and experienced everything. It’s a great example of what really happens in nature. You can alway utilize it as a teaching moment

Honestly seeing and learning that stuff hurts no one. You can explain it however you want, a little stretch of the truth like 'too much energy' or just say he wants to make puppies. Kids have to learn it eventually. As stated above, tons of kids grew up breeding dogs, on a ranch, a farm, etc, and they certainly aren't scarred.

I think removing a healthy body part isn't warranted if you're a decent owner. Obviously they aren't without the dog on a leash (hate that shit) but not everyone who has an intact male is like that at all. Altering a dog is illegal in some countries and they manage fine without overpopulation half as bad as us.

Understood but I do think atleast in my opinion breeding dogs with kids around is kinda wrong. Yeah everyone needs to learn eventually but when you have a toddler watching 2 dogs fuck I think that should be something done away from them. I learned about sex and stuff way too early. I wish I had my innocence for a couple extra years but what can you do.

I tend to take the same position. Kids learn about the world in all sorts of ways. You would rather be the first opportunity to explain rather than having someone else take on this subject when it comes up again.

Um, yes you may had got it explained in somehow wrong way at some time. It is as important not to overexplain, as much as not indoctrinating sex as evil or a sin.

You can always start "they are playing leapfrog" and if they are asking seriously answer more seriously as you see appropiated.

A toddler... will just see it and not mind much more than wondering why they play with a ball.

When I was a kid, all dogs were unaltered and was usual the occasional mating on the street, wanted or accidental. The *only* thing we were really puzzled or worried was the tying and mainly because of the pain-by-pull moments that sometimes happened.

So yes. Even me (this zoo pervert here) -who knew what they were doing because I knew from school and TV nature programs- . So even me, I was more concerned about the poor dogs running tied screaming and even curious about what was happening than anything else.

you can say: "they just playing fight" and todler will see only 2 dogs playing...
young kids are mostly observing your reaction about it, if you explain it calmly they can take it as uninteresting and normal (for some time).
if you will freak out during explanation they will feel something is not normal.

use your knowledge and winsdom to administer information acording to age - you have some idea what you would like to know at which age.

too much information is harmful,
not enough maybe even more - they will find out elsewhere and you will be compromited as bad source and then not worthy of asking later with something else XD
maybe you can try to explain a bit and ask if have more questions.
