I recall "researching" zoo/beastiality in Enyclopedia Brittanica (USA version) when I was a youngster circa mid-1970s. There was a pretty extensive section in the encyclopedia category on the matter with note that human sex with farm animals was common in rural areas.
And so it began for me...

I lived in Japan when my father was stationed there in the late 1960s. My first exposure to zoo-related pornography was at local magazine stands and stores where material was openly displayed for sale.

Colombia is an extreme Roman Catholic ideology. Boys are encouraged to fuck donkeys rather than have premarital sex. It seems cool, but the reasoning behind it is fucked. Gay sex is totally unacceptable too of course :/

It's frowned upon in Japan but you likely wouldn't face any legal repercussions if you got caught. You would however be shunned and shamed by most anyone who knew about it. Japanese people generally just won't do anything viewed negatively. If they wanted to they'd travel outside Japan to do it.

Keep in mind you were around a military base. Community Standards do not prevail in base/post surrounds....its anything for a buck.

Oh, boy. It may be "no big deal" perhaps to one's peers, and may be "common" but law enforcement isn't likely to agree with that.

South America, Hispanic. Colombia for sure, as I met at least 20 people (all men) who unashamedly announced that they did indeed fuck a donkey their for their first sexual experience. Maybe elsewhere in South America as well, but Colombia for certain.

Yeah, I saw the same one, and also something from Vice right around the same time. Both after I was in Colombia, which was why the shows caught my attention in the first place.
 
Someone once told me it was common with I believe the Romans for women to have sex with dogs. The thought was the men go off to battle and are gone for months at a time marching all over, so the women would have sex with dogs and it wasn't considered cheating on their man because they couldn't get pregnant.

I'm Brazilian and I can say that, although there may be a lot of beastility porn, it is not accepted by society at all. At least not in my region.

all i ever found about Romans and bestiality was that they let dogs fuck female prisoners before executing them as a kind of dehumanizing gesture... apparently in front of cheering crowds too

only ancient culture that seemed to be okay-ish with zoo stuff was ancient Greece (at least that's where i think is that one horse fucking statue)

I do believe that was India. Correct me if I'm mistaken but I do believe the Kama Sutra also has a couple of images with women mating with various animals, from dogs to elephants.
