American Trans Air was an American low-cost charter airline from Indianapolis Indiana. Founded in 1973 as Ambassadair and continued operation until April 3, 2008 when they filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The majority of their assets were sold to Southwest Airlines based in Dallas.

I truly miss this Airline. Not a day has gone by where I haven't thought of this Airline.

I grew up flying this airline on an almost monthly basis. I miss the service, crew, and everything about this great Airline.

I still do. But I grew up in a wealthy family and we frequently traveled between CA and AZ (most of the time) to meet family

I now primarily only fly Southwest, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Air as they have the best domestic service.

I flew southwest from Kansas City to somewhere in Arizona lol. I can’t remember exactly where we landed.

There's only one plane I'm interested in flying in again and that's FiFi and possibly Doc.

Then it was A Boeing 737-700. Southwest has only operated the 737 family of aircraft in it's entire existence since the late 1960's.
