I feel like an a**hole

😭

I saw some videos on TikTok and some pretty disturbing pictures of Pitbull and Chihuahua Mixes and felt pretty grossed out they look so scary and un-proportional
IMG_4160.jpeg
Im not sure what my dogs mix is and he is still kinda young to see what his full out features will be, but i'm terrified he kinda looks like he could be mixed with it. Why do people breed these two together it seems so dangerous….

anyway am i the asshole because i’m thinking about giving him away because of his potential breed the little dog on the green container is mine and the two are images of pit-bull and chihuahua mix

Then you shouldnt own a dog, and rehoming him is His best bet. The answer to your question is "Yes".

Why did you pick up the puppy in the First place?.. Because he was "Cute"?
Yes thats why i picked him up lol, i have another post talking about it was an impulsive decision walking out of the grocery store… i have am doing the best but it would be alot of time and money wasted for him to turn out like deformed or something or his temperament uncontrollable due to the breed not to mention he was super sick and in bad shape when i got him and i nursed him back to health and spent ALOT of money $$$$

Im not trying to be cruel, here....but it doesnt sound like youre really a dog person. Youve had him long enough to know if you can live without him ...whether you love the critter or even like him. If youre able to encompass giving him up, you probably need to do so. The words youre using....Deformity is not a word I'd use about a dog....he'll be what he is....if you want him and care for him, he'll love you back....more than anyone else in your life ever will. But make your decision based upon what's best for HIM.

If potty training is all it takes to make you happier with him, its not him, friend.Think about it.

If you are talking like a waste of time and money for your dog? Sorry but you do not deserve to have any dog.. Give him please into a loving family while still so young. He looks scary? I dont know, imho every dog looks scary if you are afraid of dogs.... any dog can be turned into a killing machine, it is not about the bred or mix. I am working since over 25 years with as i say strong character dogs like PitBull, AmStaff, OEB, Cane Corso, Rottweiler etc.. Raised and trained with love, patience and passion, even the so called dangerous breeds can be such sweet, loving and caring couch potatoes...

i dont think a week is enough time tbh, i have a super busy schedule and i haven’t had a dog in several years i think jt will take some getting used too! i dint think you’re being cruel at all, I'm definitely a dog person but i have my limitations

Having a dog is a big investment time and money im a full time college student so its a lot of responsibility. Its only been a week im still trying to see if its a good fit. The breed is definitely something that does worry me.

A dog is a living creature with feelings and soul, you should think twice before getting a dog if you will be able financially and time wise to have a dog. And not after you took it like ahh will see if he fits into my life and if not i just give it away like a toy..

You’re acting like i ripped this dog from his mother šŸ’€ i took this dog off a man at a grocery store giving them away like toys and they were sick asf, i decided then to take care of him and invest my own time and money, im allowed to have some reservations, that doesn’t mean i hate him. i just need tome to adjust and if i cant i can find him another family. its not that serious im just venting through my process and experience with this pet and everything it comes with

Dude, you arent hearing yourself. You bought or adopted him a week ago and youve got "Buyers Remorse"?
Find the pup a home, finish college, grow a brain that works, and maybe you'll be ready. Right now you're a whiner. Deal with that first.

Im allowed to vent lil bro whether i keep him or not is up to me . You can still feel regret or have delayed realization , i think my brain is working just fine Im working through my emotions. I never bought him , reading is FUNDAMENTAL

In the end if he took a dog and put in money and time to make it healthy, as long as he finds it a good home, what is so terrible about that. It's not 'idea' but a lot of dogs have to go through a lot of instability to find their forever home.

If he's planning on just taking it back to the Wal-Mart parking lot and giving it to the first bozo that wants it...yeah that's not real cool.....

she^ and im not planning on doing that at all thats HOW i got him lol after all ive been through this week with him and all the money ive spent i practically rescued him, i was just deciding, venting out loud rather, if i should keep or rehome
because its alot more responsibility than i thought being a full time uni student

Well i got the impression from the first post that it was the breed that was concerning to you. Not the time, effort or money. The reasoning behind your thoughts of rehoming seem to have taken quiet the turn.
How ever im not in your position to judge, and i just hope if you decide to rehome him that you do your best to find him the best home possible.
And in future do your research into what you are getting vs what you are wanting.
Save some money and buy a dog breed you want.
That way you are invested from the get go and rehoming wont be such an easy thought due to having to save up your dollars to make the purchase in the first place and not just grabbing the first readily available "free to good home" dog you come across.

several reasons which were all talked about in earlier posts, the breed is concerning as well i dont know how to train a dog and his breed is ā€œknownā€ for being aggressive people say. its not just one reason two or three .. lots of factors into my rant i ultimately just want a healthy safe normal dog

A normal dog... a typical dog... you mean one that is loved and cared for? One that's trained, and obedient ?
One that learns what you expect of it over time?
One that is loyal and compassionate?
One that is socialized properly and not too aggressive?
One that can be trusted around strangers, other dogs or kids?

All of these things are corrected behavior issues that YOU have the power to do as the pack leader.

watch some puppy training videos, or "the dog whisperer "

it's not always going to be easy or fun for some people to raise a puppy. But they watch you and learn from you everyday. Progress seems slow but they're trying to understand what to do.

Talk to a dog trainer but I wouldn't give up.

Mine was a holy terror that looked nothing like the dog he grew into.

I've seen it both ways. Improper training and lacking socialization can turn the chillest lab or chill breeds into aggressive, possessive assholes.

Or proper training turn the scappiest junk yard scary dogs into little angels. Yes some breeds are indeed more challenging for a novice dog owner. The concept is the same though.

Dogs are pack animals, they naturally look for some type of structure. Sometimes a little correction is deemed.

A good test is to put your hand in his bowl when he eats. If he growls or nips at your hand you need to adress that immediately. Give him a pinch on his neck and say "no!" .

If you let those behaviors fester its like raising a spoiled kid. It can have dangerous down stream consequences. Especially when they go through the "teen years". They're hormones will be telling them to fight everything for the right to mate. You have to guide them through it properly.

Otherwise you end up with a dog you can't take anywhere. He will be upset or anxious about everything new at first. Just work through it.

Mine taught himself to sit. When he wasn't getting what he wanted from jumping around. I just stare past him out the window. He eventually stops jumping around and sat down. Only then did I adress him and say "good boi" .
Later, after a few days of this I started saying "sit" when he sat. A few days later , he's understanding "sit" means sit.
Those are the moments that make it worth all the struggle.

Or the first time he walks past another dog with out barking or pulling on the lease.

Sometimes not reacting is the message.

Body language and non verbal cues are a big part of dog universal language also.

I'm serious it's alot of information. But you are shaping a mind of a different species. It's not going to be easy but it's very rewarding.

Based on the comments of this post some particular people need to check themselves out in the mirror....
@nomore117 Just do what you think is best for you and your little buddy, I wish you luck my friend <3
