I’m curious on how my fellow animal lovers label themselves. Do you call yourself a zoo, zoophile, zoosexual, or maybe your own personal label you connect to?

For me, I only call myself simply a “zoo”. I talked to my partners and we just simply like the term zoo. We felt the term “zoophile” has a negative connotation it. I like the term “zoosexual” but I don’t really use it.

Let me know what you like!

I only use the bigger labels, not the unnecessarily overcomplicated or new-generation ones.
Zoophile, exclusive-zoophile, female dogs zoophile etc.
That says it all. It's completely unnecessary to include all sorts of fluid, non-binary, thingamabob like etc. nonsense in this. I'll leave that to the ABC lovers.

I didnt even think of that. At first I though that zoo meant the ones that are into every kind of animals, but I guess that rather rare. so I guess a zoo too?

I’m more interested in the specific words ppl use to describe themselves personally, as a weird non binary ABC lover I don’t see the need to add more labels to something like zoosexuality.

Zoosexuality is already a new generation word. In the past, everyone knew what zoophile meant and that 99% of them had sex with animals. Today, a separate word was needed for this too.

I identify myself as zoophile primarily, but zoo and zoosexuality also fits me. but is not something I normally use

Umm, does shortening the phrase meaningfully lessen the negative connotation? Maybe if someone didn't know you meant that you had an attraction to animals, but that would be a misunderstanding rather than an actual change in the meaning.

Anyway, I call myself a zoophile. As in I am sexually and romantically attracted to dogs and want to get a dog to be my boyfriend. Zoosexual sounds kinda like someone just wants to use animals sexually, and zoo is nice but just a shorter version of the proper phrase to me.

And I don't really use these identifiers anywhere but here and a few places where I know I'm talking to a fellow zoo lol.

I really only out loud use these labels with other zoos (three of my partners are zoos). In a way for me yeah, it does lessen the negative connotation. One of my partners said verbatim what you said about zoosexual sounding like someone just wants to use animals, because we feel romantic towards animals.

I was just curious how people identify to themselves!

I avoid labels since they are usually preset by other with properties which may not apply to me.
I also tend to confuse people with cynophile

When I've talked to many people before, and I do a lot of educating on the subject. Especially since I've studied a lot of the psychology around it. So I will often use the term zoosexual since it's similar to homosexual and heterosexual.

This familiarity helps people grasp the concept correctly by relating it to their own orientation. Since for a lot of zoos, it is just that. Obviously for some it means much more. So I will break down a lot of those categories of zoos.

I consider myself more a spiritual zoo since I have a very mental connection with animals. And feel more like one of them, then I do a human. Not anything official but it best describes how it feels. Im happy to report that ive changed a lot of people's nasty opinions about it and hope to continue educating others properly.

I consider myself a therian, spiritually I feel like I’m an animal which definitely contributes towards my zoo feelings a lot.

It depends on the company. Here I can be a zoo, zoophile, or zoosexual. Out in the non-zoo world, I just identify as "straight". And that's no lie. I am straight, I'm just omitting the species of the partner...

I refer to myself as an equi-bovine-zoo.
With all the species out there, I think it makes sense to be species-specific…
For example…I really don’t like k9-zoo sex….don‘t like the look of k9-genitals, nor their smell, nor their behaviour and have zero interest in talking about k9-zoo activities or with k9-exclusive zoos….so by being species-specific, I make it clear what I am into and what not…..

I never liked labels, as they're too often misleading. I can feel love and affection, rarely even of romantic nature, for animals of all species and sexes, but sexually I'm only attracted to stallions, men and other large animals depending on the individual. What should that be labeled? Homo-zoosexual biromantic? No clue, and it feels like a pointless endeavor to try to label it. I just love who and what I love.

So is your family also into the zoo lifestyle?

I'm new here, so I'm not really sure what I am. I suppose the simple answer is, yes, I’m a zoo but its been kept to fantasy and my artwork, though the thought does make me feel a way. I was hoping to make some friends here, and I figure I’ll do that through my art. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

I refer to myself as a zoophile, and when describing my sexuality I'll interchange zoophila/zoosexuality. There isn't really a rhyme or reason as to why I use one or the other.

I don't really think about how I identify because I don't really care for the labels. What I primarily identify with is that I'm a therian as that's what impacts me the most emotionally. My sexuality is complicated, and zoophilia is just one part of that, so I don't personally identify or relate with the term "zoophile" in the same way that I don't really relate with a word like "queer", it's a word that could technically be used to describe me, but it's just a word in a sea of words you could use to try to describe it. But no amount of descriptors changes anything or helps me in any way, so I don't put much thought into it.
