More is better....that standard, on rocky ground or sand will kill horses that crib it. See the reportage on the Caisson Horses at Ft Myer( Arlington's Burial Staff Horses). They've buried horses along with burying Vets in the last 24 months. Decent pasturage FIRST, and the more the better.
