I've been a furry since my early teens, and discovered zoo in my late teens, but I've always held the furry community at arms length and been selective about who I connect with. Then every now and again I'll dip my toe into the community, realise it's toxic as all hell and step back again.

But I totally agree, I've seen furries comment "EW human cock" on art and post about their growing bad dragon collection while denouncing zoos who are enjoying the real thing while having a loving connection to their mate.

Older generation got in the fandom because it’s who they are, not because it got mainstream. Probably a lot of them also were zoo before they found out about the fandom just like myself
