Definition of Zoophile

I had a question come to mind...I know that a bestialist is someone who has sex with animals, and a zoophile is someone who is emotionally and sexually attracted to animals.

The question is...I've heard some say they're emotionally attracted to animals, but they are not sexually attracted to them. What would someone be if they're emotionally attracted to animals, but not sexually?

Not sure about that one, but I use the term zoosexual to define someone who is sexually and emotionally attracted to animals, and it doesn't matter if they choose to have sex with their partners or not. Using the term bestialist just sounds highly negative to me, and to use it to separate those who have sex with their partners vs those that don't just divides the community. If you're just emotionally attracted to animals, I don't think it has a special name. You just have a deep care for animals.

I'm using these terms originally defined by a researcher who studied zoosexuality.

Traditionally, a bestialist is sexually attracted to an animal, but not emotionally. But I don't mean to analyze this in
unnecessary microscopic detail.

I was there and I can explain it exactly. The original (and still as far as I am concerned) definitions are that bestiality is a sex act involving an animal and Zoophilia is an emotional attachment to an animal to a degree beyond simple affection.

The confusion began when porn pushers co-opted the word "Zoophilia" to legitimize their wares. Zoophilia isn't prohibited under law, just bestiality (the physical act). Miletski then began using the word "Zoosexual" to make a distinction from the sliding porn loaded "Zoophile".

What do you mean "I was there"?

I have read much about Ms. Hani Miletski, I'm familiar with her. I remember zoos from the old country so to speak still used the term "zoophile"..

I was active in the Zoophile community and was communicating with many via the internet. I've hosted/admined sites and had sane discussions with researchers, law enforcement, and a few politicians. We were viewed more with amusement than alarm in the days before the raving psychos, drama queens, and SJWs from both sides climbed on and went to work.

How has the political/cultural landscape changed since then?
In a word, "clickbait". The internet favors extremes in all things because that's what draws crowds so people who need crowds to support them (media personalities, politicians, rabble rousers) embrace those extremes. That especially hurts us because with the migration of most voters to urban centers their understanding of non-humans is set by Disney etc. That makes them prime canon fodder for the antis.

Agreed, Cai, in spades. I gave up my Facebook accounts years ago, when I came to realize that "Stupid" is contagious. You see, there is no cure for it; moreover, continuing to contend with it, knowing it cannot be cured, is a form of stupidity itself. The Keyboard Warriors who never leave the safety of their mama's basement know next to nada about life, yet they will advise, admonish, advocate and generally add to the problems of anyone involved in literally any pursuit of Happiness. Possibly even more so with this particular Taboo. They have nothing to lose, and if they happen to get lucky, they MIGHT get to watch some poor unsuspecting nitwit carry out the advised deed. In fact, one of those hit the News out of Houston just before Christmas. In this case the nitwits in question stepped out of the basement into the world and immediately screwed up. The worst thing about such cases is they usually take someone out with them when they get caught, and this case was true to form....a Young lady who probably didnt deserve it was jailed along with the two Nitwits in question. Reality check: unless you knew the names to check on or lived in that suburban town, you'd never have known it, and I still haven't found the disposition of the case in Public Records. Usually those cases come up all over the papers...

The Internet lends itself to all the idiots who advocate extreme POV's, because technology usually outstrips human social development. We havent grown up enough as a species to handle what we have, but Tech marches on...we'll be lucky if we don't blow ourselves into the next world, rather than travel to it in a Shuttle.

Thanks for that page.

Though honestly, isn't "zoosexual" a politically correct term? No offense.

From my understanding the terms "zoophile" and "zoosexual" are exactly the same thing. "Zoosexual" carries a positive connotation.

Miletski, pioneer Mark Matthews, and many other zoos used the term "zoophile" to describe an individual who is sexually and emotionally attracted to animals and that was way back in the 1990s.

It seems today the new generation prefers the term "zoosexual", not that there is anything wrong with that term.

I just feel it is inappropriate to use the term "zoophile/zoosexual" (since they are interchangeable terms) to describe a person who is emotionally attracted to, but not sexually attracted to animals.

Conversely, if an individual is only sexually attracted to animals they are a bestialist.
