Check your doggies mouths!

Today when I woke my girl up to go outside and she stared doing something weird with her tongue, but I brushed it off as her just yawning and waking up. As the day went on I saw her do it multiple more times so I checked around in her jowls to see if there was anything bothering her in there, but I didn’t anything. Later we were sitting on the couch and she started doing it again, almost like there was something on the roof of her mouth. So I opened up her mouth and sure enough there was something there. A stick was stuck side to side in her teeth, and when I say stuck I mean stuck. It took me about five minutes of wigging and tugging on it to get it out without hurting her. I just wanted everyone just in case this happens to one of your pups.

I haven't had anything like that happen quite yet. But I get overly cautious at the first sign that something is abnormal. Even if something is just slightly off, slightly excessive tiredness, smaller than usual appetite, or even my girl slightly favoring 3 paws over her fourth, I'm on it examining her from head to toe. I'm more likely to take my girls to a vet than I am myself to a doctor. If the outside world were to look at me they'd simply see a doggy "paw-rent" taking good care of his "fur-baby." Ugg... that hurt to type.

I'm glad you found out what was bothering your girl and were able to take care of it.

Yea I’m glad I caught it because I’m sure it could have caused an infection and I’m sure it wasn’t comfortable. And i understand being overly cautious because when she can’t physically tell me what’s wrong I usually assume the worst. But maybe I’m just a worrier.

Glad to hear your girl is ok! First sign of stuff out of the norm warrants investigation, my girl just had a problem with a piece of foxtail grass stuck in her mouth last week.

literally had the same thing happen to my late boy. him pawing at his mouth constantly made me check it thoroughly. a stick from teeth to teeth across the roof of his mouth. luckily, it was pretty soft so it went out easily, he just couldn't do it himself.

I think it only happened yesterday because it still had green bark on it. But it wasn’t soft at all. She didn’t like me trying to get it out but she was happy when I did and gave me all kinds of slobbery doggy kisses ?.
