I am on the road a lot and my wife would like to get a dog for security and companionship. No breed in particular. Go to the SPCA and look for the dog with the longest tongue hanging out of the side of his mouth. Shepherds have big tongues so do Mastiffs and retrievers. Bulldogs too.
 
I think you should take into consideration the possibility of sex because you on the road and she getting licked good chances she would become horny enough to go for it
