Struggling to accept being into zoo

Hello all,

Like the subject says I’ve been struggling to accept that I’m into zoo. I was exposed to it (online) at a pretty young age and it’s stuck with me sense. I’ve tried pushing away from it, however, it always comes back to me. How did you become content with being interested in zoo?

The best way to accept it is to not hate yourself for being associated with it. That way, it becomes engrained in your personality. Do not confuse it with making it your entire personality however, as keeping it private and to others who've already accepted it will be key to keeping you and them safer.

Never thought about it like that — thank you. Genuinely shocked that it was worded simple but so well. Could you elaborate on the the bit about safety?

If you're too open about it in the wrong place, it could attract unwanted attention. Some of those people get real nosy too, so imagine some crazed lunatic doxxing people here so they could get a handful of us arrested (that's one of the worst case scenarios). That'd get ugly.

Totally understand how you feel. Like I question myself a lot, why am I’m into this or find this hot. Idk. try to ignore it push it aside but keeps popping back up. Guess we are into what we are into. Just try our best to cope with it and not let it get out of hand.

The key to understanding and accepting yourself is to stop running from these parts of you. Pushing something away, you might find it comes back stronger and in some cases, more insistent. What you're feeling is a part of you, but it's not what makes you... you.

If you're struggling to reconcile with these things, talking to a professional (and with confidentiality) would be valuable. You can't build a foundation without first knowing what materials you're working with.

My journey to self-acceptance is always ongoing, but the keys to success in my opinion lie in balance. You control what you do with your desires -- they do not control you. It's my belief we should work to understand them, respect them, and know that growth comes from acknowledging our complexities and not avoiding them.
