I do hope you're not considering doing that. I've never heard of that working out as planned. I've only heard of regrets and negative experiences after making such a move.

Just comes down to your hierarchy of values. You likely don’t value the bond too highly if you’re willing to sacrifice it for some doggie dick. So in your case it’s unironically worth considering.
 
Funnily enough, I'd already thought about it before getting married (which was on the cards at one point, but then didn't happen). I also knew at the time that my almost-husband wasn't into dogs...and I was already thinking about it...good thing it didn't happen anyway...for various other reasons...;)
