Dog wants oral when feeling nervous

My dog hates thunder storms but I've noticed recently that he's most likely to ask (in his way) to give oral during these storms. He's always very willing when I want it but he rarely intiates, except during storms.

Anyone else's pet behave like this? I'm assuming it's a comfort thing but is allowing it taking advantage? Should I be discouraging it?

I think it's fine. You're giving your dog something to take his mind off of what is stressing him out. If there are other things that could do that better like a chew treat, try that.

Nothing else seems to be distracting enough. I've tried so many things when it's not an option (like we're not alone) but nothing else truly calms him.

Yes that's what I meant, with peanut butter in it. Too bad it doesn't work.

he's happy to do it when the weather is beautiful, he just initates more when he's nervous

I probably wouldnt stress it then, if he uses going down on you as a way to cope with stress then I would just call in sick every time it rained if I were you

I'll have to come up with some excuses for that
